After an absence of two or more semesters, an application and fee are necessary when re-entering CSUMB, but applications are not required for students desiring to enroll only in extension or intersession. |

$125, refundable until June 30; Q: What is the security deposit for?
A: The security deposit is to cover any damages that are done to the room at the time of checkout. For example, if the carpets are dirty or paint is peeled off the door, the security deposit will go towards those damages. If no damages occur, the deposit carries over year to year. If you leave with no damages, the deposit is refunded.
Q: How and where do I make a payment for housing?
A: There are two options for housing payments. You can either pay at the Campus Service Center (located in Building 47) or you can pay online through SmartPay at http://onestop.csumb.edu .
Q: Are meal plans required for students living in the Residence Halls or North Quad Suites?
A: Currently all students who live in student housing, unless they live in an apartment (Building 301 or in Frederick Park) are required to purchase a meal plan.
Q: When are my housing fees due?
A: By default, all housing fees are due prior to check in; Financial Aid students may have their payment of their fees deferred until 2-3 months after the start of the semester (spring, April 1st; fall, November 1st).
Q: Can I defer my deposit and/or reservation fees?
A: No, there are no deferments for deposits or reservation fees.
Q: Can I get my money refunded if I decide not to live on-campus?
A: You can get your money refunded only if you cancel before the Cancellation Deadline.
Q: Can parents or guardians who pay for their children's housing, obtain information about their account?
A: Under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and for security reasons, our office cannot disclose any information about your child's housing and account. However, a waiver form can be filed by the student with the Office of Residential Life so that parents are granted access to their child's housing information.
Q: What are Otter Bucks?
A: CSUMB offers an optional flexible spending account that can be used at a variety of venues and for services on campus. With the purchase of optional Otter Bucks, you can access the cashless convenience of debit card purchases at CSUMB. Otter Bucks are accepted at the Otter Bay Café, Otter Express, Dining Commons, Black Box Cabaret, the University Bookstore, washer/dryers in the residence halls and select copy and vending machines. |
