Complete this application only if you already hold a baccalaureate degree or will have received your baccalaureate degree by the time you enroll in your first quarter at CSUSB. If you have yet to complete your first baccalaureate degree, please complete the Undergraduate Application.

 

Deadlines: There are new deadlines for each academic term. The university will adhere to these new deadline dates.  Please refer to our website.

International Graduate Applicants: Do not fill out this application. If you plan on attending on a “J” or “F” visa, please fill out the CSU Mentor International application. This application is for domestic applicants only. International Application  

 

Important Note:  Many of our Graduate Degree programs require a separate application in addition to the online CSU Mentor application. Please contact the department or go to our website at www.csusb.edu/majorsDegrees/graduate/  for more information.

 

Fall 2010:  We will begin accepting applications for 2010 - 2011 academic year starting October 1st, 2009. This year university deadlines will be implemented for Fall and all upcoming terms. Some majors have a separate application deadline date which may be earlier than the university deadline. Please check with your desired department to find out if there is a deadline. Below are departments that have set deadlines. If the department you are applying to does not have a department deadline the university deadline will be implemented. Please apply early! Your application and supporting documents including the application fee must be received by the deadline date. Please give the Graduate Admissions Office ample time to review your application and forward all the necessary paperwork to the department.

Winter 2011:  We will begin accepting applications starting June 1st, 2010. Some majors are only open once a year and will not open for Winter. We will not accept 2nd Bachelor's degrees, undeclared majors, and students seeking a certificate. Please refer to the Deadline section above for Winter 2011 deadlines.  

 

IMPORTANT:  Beginning Winter 2011, transcripts with a print date older than 1 year will not be accepted.

 

Applicants Seeking a 2nd Bachelor’s Degree and Certificates:  We are closed due to budgetary restraints for these categories.  These categories will remain closed for Fall 2010, Winter 2011, Spring 2011 or until further notice.

 

Credentials: Please submit a Graduate application along with all the required paperwork. We advise applicants to contact the College of Education Student Services Office regarding Credential requirements. Go to our website at: http://www.csusb.edu/coe/programs/ for more information. Designated Subject Credential: If you are applying for a Designated Subject Credential, you must fill out a Transitory application located on our website at http://ve.csusb.edu/teach.html. Manually fill out the application and mail or deliver it to the Graduate Admissions Office. There is a $55 application processing fee.

Palm Desert Campus: PDC is a satellite campus of CSUSB.  If you wish to attend the Palm Desert Campus, go to “Main campus/Off-campus center” on the application and select “Palm Desert Campus (PDC)” from the drop-down box. You may drop off transcripts at the PDC campus; however to expedite the processing of your application please mail transcripts or drop them off at the Graduate Admissions Office on the main campus. Transcripts: Student must submit transcripts from all colleges/universities attended. Official transcripts are required for each application that is submitted to the Graduate Admissions Office. Transcripts will be retained only for the term that the student is applying for.  Transcripts will not be transferred to another quarter if the student does not attend. If you do not attend or decide to reapply for another term, you must resubmit your transcripts to reflect the new term. If you have attended CSUSB you are not required to submit transcripts from our own university. However you will be required to submit all other transcripts in order to have your application processed. All transcripts must be in the original sealed envelope in order to be considered official. Do not open or tamper with the seal.  If your transcripts are open or tampered with, they will be considered unofficial.  Starting Winter 2011, transcripts with a print date older than one year will not be accepted.

Please have all transcripts sent to the Graduate Admissions Office and not the department. If you are just graduating with your Bachelor’s degree please make sure your final transcript from that University shows your Degree posted. If the Degree is not posted, that transcript will be considered “Incomplete”.

Please Note: Contact your desired department to find out if there is a deadline.

 

Application Fee: A 55$ application fee is required for processing your application. This fee is non-refundable and can not be transferred to another term. You can pay the fee after you finish the application on-line. Follow the instructions on the last page of your application.  You may choose to pay by check/money order, if so please mail a check for 55$ to CSUSB and attach a copy of the proof of submittal page that you printed out at the end of your application. The information we need to post your fee is on the submittal page. If you pay on campus at the Bursar Office, please make sure to turn in the receipt to the Graduate Admissions Office. You may also pay by Cash-net on-line at http://admnacct.csusb.edu/bursar.htm. Please make sure you submit your receipt to the Graduate Admissions Office.

 

Submit Application: Take time to fill out the application making sure that you have entered all the necessary information correctly.  Be sure that you press the “SUBMIT” button at the end of the application. You will receive an automatic reply email as soon as you press the submit button.  If you do not press the submit button we will not receive your application. Please allow up to 3 days for your application to be downloaded. Within 2 weeks we will mail to you an Acknowledgement letter containing your student ID number and campus email address, along with instructions on how to log onto our student system called MyCoyote. You may check your admission status regularly through this site.

 

Your Campus Email Address:  After the acknowledgement letter, all communication from Graduate Admissions Office will be via your campus email address.

We think you will find this application to be an easy way to apply. To make your electronic filing easier, please have your Social Security number (SSN) handy. If you don't have one, leave the entry blank. If you are or will be applying for a Social Security number (SSN), please contact the campus(es) you apply to when your SSN is issued so we can update our records. Copies of your transcript(s) will provide CSU with important information for admissions determination.

To complete the online application, simply type your answers in the corresponding fields or select your answers from the pop-up lists (where applicable).

After you complete a screen, click the 'Next' button at the bottom or on one of the sections listed on the left column to move to a different screen. Before you are allowed to jump screens, we will inspect your data on the current screen for errors or inconsistencies. If errors or omissions are found, you will be returned to the screen to correct your answer(s). Otherwise, your data will be saved and you will proceed to the requested screen. We also allow you to skip to another screen without your new data being saved. Be aware that if you use the Skip & Jump function on the left column, data on the current screen will not be saved and will have to be re-entered prior to submittal.

Once you have completed the application, click the 'SUBMIT' button located on the left column to submit the application.

Upon completion of this online application you will be given the opportunity to print this application for your own records (do not send to the school). To do so, click the link on the application agreement statement and use your browser's print function. You may also print previously submitted applications by viewing the confirmation screen for each campus and clicking the corresponding link.


What happens next?

You will receive an application acknowledgement from the campus to which you applied. Read it carefully and follow any instructions about when to send in documents or when to take placement tests.

You will receive notification of your admission status.

When you are admitted to the campus, you will receive information about orientation, registration, and other activities for new students.

Important note: E-mail is a primary means of communication with applicants. CSU campuses will send important messages to you using the e-mail address that you list on this application. It is your responsibility to check this e-mail account regularly and read your messages from the CSU. Be sure to notify the campus(es) if this e-mail address changes.
