SPECIAL NOTICE REGARDING THE

 SPRING 2011 ADMISSION APPLICATION PROCESS


 

CSU, Chico will accept applications for the spring 2011 semester from credential candidates who are graduates of CSU ChicoThe filing period is Aug. 1 – 31, 2010.  Due to unprecedented budget uncertainty, applications are being accepted awaiting passage of the 2010-11 California budget.   We will process your application conditionally. This means that NO offer of admission will be made until we know more about the budget, including funding to support an increase in CSU’s enrollment.
 
Once a budget is adopted, you will be notified of your options:
(1) If the budget provides funding to increase CSU enrollment, we will finalize the review of your admission eligibility for the spring 2011 term.

(2) If the budget does not provide additional funding to increase CSU’s enrollment, you will have the option to either (a) request that your admission application be deferred from spring 2011 to the fall 2011 term or (b) request that your admission application be withdrawn and the application fee be refunded. 
 
Exceptional groups that can request Mentor to be opened include the following:
  • CTEL Certificate students
  • Veterans
  • All Programs through Regional and Continuing Education
  • Graduate International Applicants
  • Faculty/Staff and Dependent fee waiver participants



International Graduate Applicants

Undergraduate Applicants:  Use the Undergraduate Application located at http://www.csumentor.edu/admissionapp/undergrad_apply.asp for the following programs:

  • Second Bachelor's Degrees (CLOSED)

Alll Certificates except:


  •  Enterprise Information Systems Certificate
  • Certificate in Community College Faculty Preparation and Adult Education
  • California Teachers of English Learners Program (CTEL)
  • Certificate in Teaching College-Level Writing

Graduate education is an integral and vital component of the university community and prepares highly qualified professionals to serve in Northern California, as well as the nation and internationally.  The Graduate School at Chico State provides services for over 30 master’s degree programs.

The following information will assist you in the admission process, so read it carefully.  Please note that all correspondence between applicants, students and California State University, Chico is via email.  In addition, all Graduate School admission decisions will be sent via email.  Therefore, it is your responsibility to be sure that we have your current email address and that you are setup to receive emails with the extension of "@csuchico.edu."

Master's In Education Applicants: As a condition of your acceptance you must submit an original sample of your writing to the Department of Education or Professional Studies in Education (depending on the program you are applying to) as soon as possible.  Detailed information concerning the Education Writing Assessment required by the Department of Education can be found at http://www.csuchico.edu/educ/progs_ma_writing.html.  Detailed information concerning the Education Writing Assessment required by Professional Studies in Education can be found at http://www.csuchico.edu/psed/.


TRANSCRIPTS

All Domestic Postbaccalaureate Applicants:  All applicants must send one (1) official transcript to the Graduate School from each postsecondary institute attended.  All transcripts must be received sealed in an original envelope to be considered official.  (Exception:  CSU, Chico graduates.  However, if you attended other institutions since your graduation you must also provide an official transcript from each of those institutions.)

General Instructions

We think you will find this application to be an easy way to apply. To make your electronic filing easier, please have your Social Security number (SSN) handy. If you don't have one, leave the entry blank. If you are or will be applying for a Social Security number (SSN), please contact the campus(es) you apply to when your SSN is issued so we can update our records. Copies of your transcript(s) will provide CSU with important information for admissions determination.

To complete the online application, simply type your answers in the corresponding fields or select your answers from the pop-up lists (where applicable).

After you complete a screen, click the 'Next' button at the bottom or on one of the sections listed on the left column to move to a different screen. Before you are allowed to jump screens, we will inspect your data on the current screen for errors or inconsistencies. If errors or omissions are found, you will be returned to the screen to correct your answer(s). Otherwise, your data will be saved and you will proceed to the requested screen. We also allow you to skip to another screen without your new data being saved. Be aware that if you use the Skip & Jump function on the left column, data on the current screen will not be saved and will have to be re-entered prior to submittal.

Once you have completed the application, click the 'SUBMIT' button located on the left column to submit the application.

Upon completion of this online application you will be given the opportunity to print this application for your own records (do not send to the school). To do so, click the link on the application agreement statement and use your browser's print function. You may also print previously submitted applications by viewing the confirmation screen for each campus and clicking the corresponding link.


What happens next?

You will receive an application acknowledgement from the campus to which you applied. Read it carefully and follow any instructions about when to send in documents or when to take placement tests.

You will receive notification of your admission status.

When you are admitted to the campus, you will receive information about orientation, registration, and other activities for new students.

Important note: E-mail is a primary means of communication with applicants. CSU campuses will send important messages to you using the e-mail address that you list on this application. It is your responsibility to check this e-mail account regularly and read your messages from the CSU. Be sure to notify the campus(es) if this e-mail address changes.
